Afternoon Ministry Time Details
Community Acts of Kindness: This ministry speaks volumes to the people of Highland Park. The Mayor and City Council recognize the consistent initiative to serve and have expressed appreciation for the acts of kindness demonstrated by War Week students. In past years, students have focused clean-up efforts on community playgrounds, vacant houses, lots and alleys - a tangible way to show the people of Highland Park the love of Christ.
Door to Door Evangelism: Students are sent out in teams with leders to meet community members on their doorstep. Students ask for prayer requests, pray with the community members and offer encouragement if led. Adult leaders, as always, oversee this ministry.
Street Rallies & Block Parties: War Week typically culminates with an evening street rally or several block parties open to the Highland Park community. Children are attracted to the giant, inflatable jungle gyms. games and clowns, while the adults and young adults enjoy special performances by a featured musical guest. One of War Week’s speakers will present a clear gospel message and provide an opportunity for families to meet Christ!
Training & Teaching Details
War Week students are exposed to some of the world’s greatest speakers, missionaries, evangelists, and teachers! Hands-on training is provided by nationally and internationally know men and women during morning & evening sessions.
Topics often include strengthening their walk with God and practical ways to share their faith with their peers and community. Sessions also include powerful times of worship led by local worship leaders and nationally known recording artists, such as Marcus Cole, Pastor Donnie McClurkin, Pastor Marvin Winans, and the Perfecting Church Youth Chorale.
Students and leaders experience powerful altar time at the end of each of the services. We have seen God do amazing things in the lives of students and leaders during this time.
Local schools and churches provide the use of their gym & locker room facilities for War Week students.
Males and females are housed at different locations; these are secure facilities monitored by adult leaders and staff.
